Detroit Coffee is fairly new to the Michigan coffee scene, but they’ve quickly made a name for themselves as a roaster that selects their beans carefully and takes care in the roasting process. Their shop is small, but they have a cozy, welcoming vibe and serve a wide variety of espresso-based drinks. Their most popular offering is the Captain’s Choice, a masterful blend that balances deep richness with vibrant notes from medium-roasted arabica beans. They also have a number of other unique brews to explore, including their Kenyan Kirinya IPA, Tanzania AA Northern Mondul Estate (floral), and Colombia Supremo Riseralda (chocolate and cherry).
While the coffee here is delicious, what really sets this place apart is “The Saturday Experience.” You’ll get the opportunity to meet the owner, Craig, who is passionate about all things coffee. He is incredibly knowledgeable about coffees from all over the world and is happy to give you samples. He also explains the roasting process step-by-step, which is a huge draw for people who want to understand how their favorite beverage is made.
